What feels like THE END is often the BEGINNING! Our hearts are broken but our love for Cherie, founder of Residence of Life, is unbroken. God’s plan of working through Cherie’s vision and your provisions have helped build two homes for 20 children in need. Her work has brought together an amazing team of missionaries and ministries, including ABINA supporters and donors. Please join us in prayer and support for the health and welfare of the children who call Residence of Life their home.
Thank you for your interest in ABINA’S updates.
Can you believe 2018 is almost over?
Since 2010, our donors have provided much needed home furnishings and appliances to the orphans’ homes at Residence of Life (RdV) in Grecia, Costa Rica…
To date, our donors have provided three freezers, two industrial sized refrigerators, one apartment size and one office fridge, three heavy duty washing machines (2 with 10 year warranties) , an indoor ball and bike rack, a swing-set (in storage), 20 custom made beds (10 bunks) with 20 mattresses, a sectional couch (2018 Mission) , plumbing materials, home maintenance (screen repairs) etc., donations of clothing, shoes, household goods, party supplies and everyday care needs for orphaned children.
*-LABOR OF LOVE-*
2018 started out fairly slow because our family was hit with the flu and walking pneumonia. Our Spring and Summer was spent working on our farm in the Pacific Northwest. The many hours of outdoor work help strengthen our muscles and widdle-away some of my winter fluff!
The past couple of years have been a turbulent time for us. I had minor back surgery and Jeremy beat prostate cancer thanks be to God and the surgeon’s brilliant mind, hands and technology.
Jeremy’s new lease on life and my new and improved back means that ABINA Ministries mission to help Costa Rica orphans WILL continue. We are grateful to ALL who participate in helping ABINA serve Residence of Life (RdV)……thank you for the comforts your donations have provided the two homes and 20 children.
Last but not least, we are asking for prayers for the orphanage founder, Cherie McCullah. As most of you know, she is an incredible mom and servant of God. Cherie is currently in treatment for her cancer, and we trust that God will heal her, just as He did my husband. She is in good hands and the children are being well cared for by RdV’s in-home Christian caregivers.
Pray for the children’s hearts as they anxiously await their Mama’s return home. It truly does take a village to raise 20 children and we are not done yet!
Pura Vida and Vaya con Dios Amigos! In Christ’s Service and with love,

A BLESSING IN A BED, TEN AGAIN…
We did it!
ABINA Ministries 2016 Orphan Project
In 2016, our Costa Rica mission’s goal was to build ten more beds for the expansion of Residence of Life’s home #2 ….
Please pray that the ten children who enter in, will find respite from their abuses and will thrive in their new home.
We are grateful to all who participated in this year’s project and look forward to our next mission in November of 2017….
Anyone with a heart for helping ABINA’S Christian Ministries, please ask how you can help or possibly join us on-site, if you can!
THANKS TO OUR DONORS….
ABINA’S Swim FIESTA has become a tradition for the orphans at RdV!
The children enjoy every minute, as do the caregivers who deserve to have some fun, too!

We are home after a successful mission trip to Costa Rica!
Back in the States, upon our return home, we began preparing for ABINA’S 3rd Annual Chili Challenge at BBR. With the help of our volunteers and board members, we were able to get everything done in time for the event.
ABINA’S yearly fundraiser, held on July 19th, raised enough funds to buy the orphan’s home a larger size refrigerator. The new appliance will be delivered to the children and their care-givers before Christmas.
The new freezer was purchased by ABINA donors, in Costa Rica, as a part of our mission trip in April 2014.
Spring Mission Trip To Residence of Life, Atenas, Costa Rica;
Jeremy and Colette traveled to perform maintenance on the bunk beds and kitchen cabinets built in 2010/11.
Several of the kitchen cabinets, kitchen table, and one child’s bunk-bed. We were able to rid the furnishings from the termite infestation and spray for six months protection.
The funds used to replace the infested wood was paid for by ABINA’S donors.We tried to take photos to show you how important this mission was. If we had waited another year, the bed would have been a total loss. We learned that in the future, all of our wood work will need to have a preventative applied to them, on a regular basis. One application lasts six months. We will be back!
THE CHILDREN LOVE TO HELP WHEN THEY ARE ABLE TO….
ABINA DONATIONS WERE USED TO RESTORE AND REPAIR THE CHILDREN’S FAVORITE FORM OF EXERCISE…THE TRAMPOLINE!
Every nonprofit organization has unique challenges and opportunities. The first four years of our growth and changes, reflect the realities and decisions we have had to make.
We give thanks to God for allowing ABINA Orphan Project Ministries to to grow and become ABINA Ministries, Inc, a recognized non-profit 501(c) 3 public charity. We are committed to His Great Commission and mission to be a conduit of blessings for North Americans to provide for abandoned, orphaned, and UN-adopted children in Central America.
Thank you ALL for choosing to help ABINA’S volunteers bless the children at Residence of Life.
Your cash donations, contributions, moral and personal support, prayers, time and participation in our annual fundraiser has provided a safe and loving environment for six children who are NO LONGER abandoned and abused~!
In one year’s time, Cherie McCullah has successfully managed her residence, her hired help, volunteers, and the demands of the health department.
The six children have adjusted to their routines with their new school, church, their community activities and friends.
Opportunities often come disguised as obstacles……
Last year, Residence of Life celebrated their first anniversary and second Christmas in the home you helped ABINA Ministries remodel. Unfortunately, this was to be their last Christmas in the home. The land-owner presented Cherie with a notice to vacate the property by April 1, 2014. The up-shot is that a new home will allow Residence of Life the change needed for growth. Although the rent will cost more than what she is paying now; we trust God will provide ALL that is needed.
What is required for Cherie to do next is move to a at least a four bedroom with three bathrooms home, on 1/4 acre of land in the Atenas, Costa Rica area. She is interested in a rent to own option, for a home that fulfills the 14 page health department rules and regulations.
Our 2014 mission was to dismantle and move all the ABINA funded furnishings, and home improvements to a new home.
Before we arrived in Atenas on March 11th, the home Cherie was planning to move to, fell through. Thankfully, her current home’s landowner will not be returning to Costa Rica on April 1st, which has allowed Residence of Life time to find a new home.
In the meantime we, Jeremy and Colette, are on our ninth day of working to confront the termite infestation found in the children’s beds and kitchen cabinets.We have replaced the damaged and infested wood on all but one kitchen cabinets, sprayed to prevent more damage and sealed the new pieces to protect from further infestations. Tomorrow, we hope to be finished with this project!
One thoughtful donor provided ABINA enough money to sponsor a fun event for the children, This included lunch at the Cariari Mall, and an afternoon of swimming at our home away from home, The Adventure Inn.
COSTA RICA MISSION…
As always, our projects are on-site and are planned around a school break, either Christmas or Spring in order to accommodate students and families who are able to travel with us to Costa Rica. All willing hearts, strong backs and volunteers who are not afraid to get dirty are welcome to join us…

2014 PROJECT in REVERSE!
Jesus goes to the heart for salvation,
the mind for renewal, and the body for purification.
We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace. —1 Chronicles 29:15
What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built. What will matter is not what you got, but what you gave. What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught. It is not about your competence, but about your character. It is not about your success, but about your significance.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” – Ephesians 2:8-10
